Zebra cake

A fun, beautifully striped vanilla and chocolate zebra cake that’s great for both grown-ups and kids!

This is a very new blog so I am working on updating all of my recipe descriptions! In the meantime, you can still find the recipe for this fun zebra cake below!

RECIPE (8-10 servings):
INGREDIENTS:

300g flour
250g sugar
25g cocoa powder
250ml rapeseed oil
100ml semi-skinned milk
4 eggs
1tsp vanilla essence
1tsp baking powder

METHOD

To start:
Whisk together the oil, sugar, milk, eggs and vanilla until well combined. Separate this mixture equally into two separate bowls.

Vanilla mixture:
In a separate bowl, mix 175g of flour with ½ tsp of baking powder then combine this in to one of the cake mixture bowls until well combined.

Chocolate mixture:
In another bowl, mix the rest of the flour (125g) with ½ tsp of baking powder and the cocoa powder then incorporate this into the other cake mixture bowl.

Assembly:
Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a 10 inch springform pan. Pour a ladle of the vanilla mixture into the centre of the pan, then use another ladle to pour a ladle of the chocolate mixture into the centre of the vanilla mixture. The batter will slowly start to spread out. Repeat this method until both mixtures are finished.

Bake in the oven for 50 minutes then allow to cool before serving with a nice tea or coffee!
