Meringue kisses

Meringue kisses can really take your cake decoration to another level.

Meringue kisses are the must-have for many cake decorations and can really change the whole look of your dessert! The bonus is that they are pretty simple, needing only a few ingredients to make it – you can’t go wrong with this recipe!

My version of carrot cake with meringue kisses
RECIPE:
INGREDIENTS:

– 2 egg whites
– 200g white sugar
– food colouring paste (colour of your choice)

METHOD:

1. Preheat oven to 100C. Line two baking trays with parchment. Whisk the egg whites until they double in size then add the sugar, 1 tbsp at a time, while still whisking. Whisk the meringue to glossy, soft peaks.

2. Fit a piping bag with a round or star nozzle, paint food colouring paste in stripes along the inside of the bag, then fill with meringue and hold it vertically to the baking sheet and gently squeeze, pulling the bag up and away to make a peak. Bake for 1 hour.
Once done, the meringues should pull away easily from the parchment and are ready to be eaten!
